Earrings. Group 3. Enamel and Cloisonne.
Enamel is one of the most durable elements there is to use in jewelry design. Many of these earrings are miniature works of art. Black and red are dramatic, sexy and classic, they never go out of style. You’ll notice that the majority are from Avon. I found matches in the book on identifying Avon jewelry that I purchased, the rest I found on-line. Avon marks their pierced earrings on the post clutch. Unfortunately, some of the clutches were missing or had been replaced by clutches from other earrings. Jewelry designers often have their markings on the post (imagine trying to read those). If the metal of the post or clutch is 14k or 18k gold it is sometimes marked on the post or clutch. Prices shown are based on the Avon book, which is based on their original selling price in the Avon campaign books. So, you would be getting a deal because of inflation. On-line sellers list them for more or less than that price. I am selling all the earrings at half price. Mom sold Avon and purchased items for every campaign book to show her customers, consequently, many of the earrings were never even worn. Some of the earrings belonged to my grandmother, for instance, the Trifari (Row 1, last pair). One of the big advantages of buying vintage jewelry is that you can see that after many years have passed they still look like new and with proper care in wearing, cleaning and storing them they should remain so. Generally speaking, Avon uses hypo-allergenic stainless steel for their earring posts. If you know that you have no reactions wearing Avon earrings you are in luck because you can find something, at a reasonable cost, to suit all your basic wardrobe needs and add some sparkle to your workday.
