Vintage Four-strand Faceted Black Glass Bracelet Silver-tone Rhinestone Clasp.
7 inches. Value $46. My Price $23. The bracelet after I dipped it in Fine Jewelry Cleaner for about 30 seconds. I was concerned about damaging the silver metal on the clasp but the loops that connected the beads to the clasp were so corroded that I thought it would have to be restrung so I decided to take the risk. Worth it! Removed the "crud" and left the clasp metal and rhinestones sparkling. I think it's strung on wire but it's so tight that I can't tell.

What is the difference between Onyx and jet?  One of the most loved traits of Whitby Jet is its weightlessness. It's super comfy to wear, even the oversized large designs. However, onyx is pretty heavy in comparison and therefore, if the stone or piece of jewelry you are holding is weighty it is Onyx rather than Jet.

Jet is a variety of lignite coal. It forms from fossilized wood. Since it has an organic origin, it's not a mineral. Nevertheless, it's considered a gem, like amber and pearl. Although jet resembles anthracite coal, it's less brittle.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_(gemstone). Jet (gemstone) Jet is a type of lignite, the lowest rank of coal, and is a gemstone. Unlike many gemstones, jet is not a mineral, but is rather a mineraloid. It is derived from wood that has changed under extreme pressure.

The English noun jet derives from the French word for the same material, jaiet (modern French jais), ultimately referring to the ancient town of Gagae. Jet is either black or dark brown, but may contain pyrite inclusions which are of brassy color and metallic luster. The adjective "jet-black", meaning as dark a black as possible, derives from this material.

Origin. Jet is a product of decomposition of wood from millions of years ago, commonly the wood of trees of the family Araucariaceae. Jet is found in two forms, hard and soft. Hard jet is the result of carbon compression and salt water; soft jet may be the result of carbon compression and fresh water. Despite the name they both occupy the same area of the Mohs scale with the difference being that soft jet is more likely to crack when exposed to changes in temperature.
