Storing and Cleaning Jewelry

Two of the most important things you need to know, how to store and how to clean your jewelry. Storing your jewelry . Generally speaking, there are three environmental elements that are detrimental to jewelry, moisture, chemicals and sunlight making a jewelry box the best place to store your jewelry. You can purchase jewelry boxes lined with anti-tarnish material. You can also purchase anti-tarnish strips and silica gel packets to absorb moisture and humidity. Note. genuine pearls are not to be stored in plastic or cardboard . You can purchase a jewelry bag to store them in or place them in your jewelry box making sure that they are not touching any other jewelry. I Googled green or blue discolor on silver jewelry. [Aquila Jewelry] Why does sterling silver turn my finger green? When sterling silver is made with a copper alloy, an oxidation process , with the copper reacting with chemicals, oils or moisture takes place. We sweat, we wash our hands, we go outside in the humid air and o...

Amy Kahn Russell.

Another one of Mom's necklaces. The designer is Amy Kahn Russell. I Googled, Amy Kahn Russell lavender freshwater pearl necklace. Nothing like it. I found a few freshwater pearl necklaces designed by her that were similar selling from $198 to $280. I have a confession to make. I came across the necklace in a tote of Mom's jewelry that I was going to take apart. It's a little "over the top" for my taste (it's also a very heavy piece). I think the small pearls and the faceted stones (I think they are quartz) would make beautiful necklaces (individually). I don't know what to think of the "spikes". Here's what her website has to say about her: Incorporating natural minerals, pearls, and fossils with semi-precious stones, Amy's designs become wearable pieces of art. Amy Kahn Russell jewelry is internationally sold in museum shops, art galleries, prestigious boutiques, catalogs, and specialty stores. My Price $100. Update. Aug 8, 2023. I found...

My first reaction to this brooch was “yikes, it’s so big and gaudy”. I wondered where it came from, who purchased it and who wore it. Later, I found it in the brooch section of the book, “Identifying Avon Jewelry” by Sandra Sturdivant, page 153. Impressionist’s Flower Pin. 1992. $15.00. “Graceful vase of colorful flowers in epoxy enamel.”      I don’t remember what I was searching for but I came across this brooch on Etsy: “Yves Saint Laurent for Avon. Van Gogh style sunflowers, Impressionist’s Flower Pin, 1992. The owner claims it’s VERY RARE. $180.00.      Google. Yves Saint Laurent for Avon Van Gogh. There’s a full page of photos and various prices from 129.97 to 300.00. I found it more than 17 times so it’s not VERY RARE.     One thing to remember about AVON. How many Avon representatives are in the United States? There are over 564,422 avon sales representatives currently employed in the United States (Sep...
